Bracey – Eleanor Delphine Prater, 76, passed away January 25, 2024 in her home. Eleanor was born in Newport News and grew up in Colorado. She was a daughter of the late Delf Jackson Gaines, Jr. and Hilda Fay Walker Gaines. She was also predeceased by her husband, Jerry Chapman and a daughter, Donna C. Reece.

She was a graduate of Paul D. Camp Community College and a former assistant at the Franklin-Southampton Chamber of Commerce.

Left to cherish her memory is two daughters, Tommie Lee Prater of Newsoms and Jennifer Marie Prater of Emporia, two sons, Jerry Wayne "Fred" Chapman, Jr. of Como, NC and Michael Allen Chapman of Iowa, eight grandchildren, Abigail, Jackson, Juniper, Jamisun, Robert, Aiden, Jerry and Shayna.
