Boykins – Eleanor Petersen Barr, 88, passed away Friday, March 01, 2013. She was a native of Philadelphia, PA, a daughter of the late Alfred and Edith Hitchen Petersen, and the widow of Earl Russell Barr. She was also predeceased by her niece, Joyce Premaza and brother-in-law, Joe Premaza. Eleanor was a retired registered nurse for the City of Philadelphia Public Health Department, a member of the Church of The Brethen in Philadelphia. When Earl passed away in 1992, she moved to Boykins to be closer to family. She attended Boykins Baptist Church and was a member of the GFWC Tarrara Women's Club.
Survivors include her sister, Miriam Premaza; two nieces, Fran Edwards and husband, Glenn and Dorothy Hickman and husband, Wilton all of Boykins; four grand-nephews; one grand-niece; two great-grand-nephews.
A graveside funeral will be held at 1 pm Saturday, March 9, at Beechwood Cemetery with the Rev. Raymond Bunn officiating. Viewing will be Friday from 5 to 7 pm and Saturday from 10 to 12 pm at Wright Funeral Home, Boykins.
