Franklin – Elbert William Brown, 85, widower of Reita McDaniel Brown, passed away August 29, 2013. He was born in Chilhowie, VA, a son of the late Charles and Annie Brown. He was a graduate of Marion High School and Virginia Tech and proudly served in the U.S. Navy. Elbert was formerly employed with Smith Douglas and Blackwater Appraisals and enjoyed playing golf for many years at Cypress Cove Country Club.
Elbert will be dearly missed by his son, Daniel Brown, and wife, Irena, of Bainbridge Island, Washington; his daughter, Nancy Burch, of New Hampshire; two brothers, Harold, and wife, Helen, of Wisconsin, and Ray of Blue Ridge, VA; a sister, Gay, of Wytheville; granddaughter, Julia Weil of Shanghai, China and many nieces, nephews and friends.
A graveside service will be held at 2 PM Sunday, September 1, at Poplar Spring Cemetery with the Rev. Randy Wright officiating. www.wrightfuneralhome.org
