Carrsville – Edward Dobbins "Eddie" Young, 85, passed away July 5, 2018 in his home. He was born in Newport News, a son of the late Clarence Vernon and Eleanor Dobbins Young. Eddie was a retired US Army Sergeant with over 20 years of service and served during both the Korean and Vietnam conflicts. He was also a retired nuclear welder, a member of Franklin Congregational Christian Church, and was a Mason. Eddie was an avid reader, life-long learner and loved to travel.

Survivors include his wife of 30 years Lorraine Russell Young; four sons William E. Young, Ronald S. Young, Edward A. Young, and Robert V. Young; two sisters Lelia Bernard and Juanita Mullins; three brothers Freddie Young, Al Young, and Robert Young; five grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service with full Military Honors will be held at 11 AM Tuesday, July 10, 2018 in Franklin Congregational Christian Church with the Rev. James H. Hyatt, Jr. officiating. A reception will follow the service in the Fellowship Hall of the church. Inurnment will be at the Albert G Horton, Jr., Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Suffolk at a later date.
