Franklin – Edward Damon Shafer, Jr., 79, passed away on April 24, 2025 in Southside Regional Medical Center.  Born on October 5, 1945 in Washington, NC, and a former resident of Conway, NC, he was the son of the late Edward Damon Shafer, Sr. and Louise Miles Shafer Canady.  He was also predeceased by a grandson, Turner Shafer.

Ed received a Bachelor's Degree from NC State University and was a retired advanced math teacher at Northampton County High School.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 24 years, Sandra Tomlin Shafer; two sons, Edward Shafer (Rhonda) and Mike Shafer (Becky); three grandchildren, Claire Godley (Cole) and Amanda and Meredith Shafer; and one great grandchild, Sutton Godley.

A Memorial Service will be held at 3PM Saturday, May 3, 2025 in Wright Funeral Home with Pastor Drew Dunn officiating.  The family suggests that memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
