Franklin – Edith Poole Whitfield, 85, passed away July 20, 2019 in the East Pavilion.  Edith was born in Pine Level, NC and was a daughter of the late Chester Hilirion and Hortense Price Poole.   She was predeceased by her husband Thomas E. Whitfield, a sister Irene P. Campbell, two brothers-in law Stanley Campbell and Smith Creech, and two daughters-in law Nancy Rose and Susan Whitfield.  Edith was retired from the accounting department of Union Camp Corporation after 33 years of service.

Left to cherish her memory are a daughter Rebecca R. Gwaltney (Billy) of Windsor; a son Richard C. "Ricky" Rose of Wendell, NC; two step-sons Tom E Whitfield of Decatur, GA and Billy Mike Whitfield of Petersburg; one sister Jean Poole Creech of Arapahoe, NC; five grandchildren Ashley G. Smith (Charlie), Hollis G. Bridges (Bobby), Brett G. Bowie (Daniel), Jennifer R. Merser (Joel), Kathleen R. Rodham (Welby); five great grandchildren Charles and Katherine Smith, Lane Bridges, Olivia and Ivy Merser; and several nieces and nephews especially Dottie Campbell Harcum who was like a daughter to Edith.

A private Graveside Service will be held in Poplar Spring Cemetery in Franklin with the Rev.
