Sedley – Edith Beaton Simms, 80, passed away April 25, 2013 at Southampton Memorial Hospital. She was born in Southampton County, the widow of John Marion Simms and the daughter of the late Stafford Marshall and Erma Bradshaw Beaton. Mrs. Simms was predeceased by two brothers Milton Beaton and Willard Beaton; a daughter, Julia Ann Renfrow; and a son, Woody Nelms.
Survivors include a daughter, Nancy Nelms, of Suffolk, VA; grandchildren, Brandon Nelms of Pensacola, FL and Jennifer McDowell of Pinehurst, NC; a brother, Marshall Beaton, and his wife, Imo, of Suffolk, VA and a host of nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 2 pm Monday, April 29, 2013 at Wright Funeral Home with the Rev. James H. Hyatt, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Rosemont Cemetery, Sedley. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 pm Sunday at the funeral home and suggest memorials be made to a favorite charity. www.wrightfuneralhome.org
