Courtland – Edward Lloyd Bass, Jr., 72, passed away October 29, 2017 at VCU-MCV Medical Center. Lloyd was a son of the late Edward Lloyd Bass, Sr. and Jean Hall Bass and was also predeceased by his brother Talmage Bass. He was a 1963 graduate of Southampton High School, attended the University of Richmond, was a graduate of St. Paul's College and was a former Virginia National Guardsman. He was a member of Courtland Baptist Church and retired from the Forestry Department of International Paper after 42 years of service.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 49 years, Cheryl Spain Bass, two sons, Edward L. Bass, III and George R. Bass all of Courtland, a sister Jean Carole Rawls   (Chip) of Chesapeake, his stepmother Emily Bass of Courtland and nieces, nephews and cousins.

A funeral service will be held at 2PM Wednesday November 1, 2017 at Courtland Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Robert Carpenter officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery. A reception will follow the service at the church fellowship hall.
