Obituary

Franklin – Dorothy Ann Holland "Dot" Pugh, 80, passed away at her home surrounded by her loving family after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease.

Dot was a native of Nansemond County, a daughter of the late Grover Cleveland Holland and Mary Viola Casper Holland. She was predeceased by her husband Donald Lee Pugh, a son Thomas L. Pugh, brothers, G.C., Waverly, Romie, Ralph, Elliott and Joseph Holland and Charles "Buddy" Taylor and Linwood Taylor and sisters, Helen H. Holland, Madeline H. Simpson and Ellen T. Wilkins.

Dot was retired from the Roll Finishing Dept. of Union Camp Corporation after sixteen and a half years of service and drove a school bus for sixteen years for the Franklin City Public Schools. She was a lifetime member of the Franklin Rod and Gun Club and a member of the Franklin YMCA and had participated in volleyball, softball and bowling. After her retirement she enjoyed yardwork especially cutting grass.

Left to cherish her memory are three daughters, Janet P. Council and husband David, Rita F. Pugh, Alesia A. Williams and husband Doug, grandchildren, David C. Council, IV and wife Dee, Amy C. Porch and husband W.J., Jessie P. Spence and husband Jesse and Lyn Pope and wife Haley, great grandchildren, Marissa, Seth and Riley.

A graveside funeral will be held at 2PM Monday November 20, 2017 in Southampton Memorial Park with the Rev. Hoyle Green officiating. The family will receive friends at the residence and suggests that memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association. www.wrightfuneralhome.org
