Courtland--Dorothy "Dot" Olivia Vick Bailey, 82, passed away April 17, 2026 in her home with family by her side.  Born in Franklin, she was a daughter of the late Joseph Raymond Vick Sr. and Nannie Mae Story Vick.  She was also predeceased by her husband Richard "Dickie" Thomas Bailey, son-in-law Michael Griffin, grandchildren Cody Bogdanowicz and Ashley McNair, and great grandson Greyson Smith.

She was a woman of deep faith who found great joy in going to church and living her life with kindness, compassion, and grace. Her love for her family was the center of her world, and she created a home filled with warmth, laughter, and lasting memories.

She had a special appreciation for life's simple pleasures. She loved flowers and found beauty in every bloom. She cherished time spent playing Yahtzee with Doug and Rummy with her family, where her competitive spirit and joyful laughter brought everyone together. One of her most treasured traditions was making blankets for each new member of the family—a gift of comfort and love that will continue to wrap future generations in her care.

Left to cherish her memory are three daughters, Terri Taylor of Garner NC, Darleen Smith of Drewryville, and Shelia Griffin of Franklin, two sons, Dwayne Bailey of Washington NC and Steve Bailey of Courtland and spouses.  She leaves her loving partner of 35 years, Doug Bailey of Courtland; and his children Dougie and Andy, a sister Shirley Jaffe of Virginia Beach and a brother, Joe Vick Jr. of Franklin.  She was a beloved Mamaw to 16 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.  She will be lovingly remembered and sorely missed by her friends and family.

Services will be private.  Memorial donations may be made to any favorite charity.
