Doris L. Porter

Franklin – Doris Lowe Porter, 85, passed away May 29, 2007 at the East Pavilion. A native of Franklin, she was a daughter of the late Willie Edward and Nellie Cutchins Lowe. Mrs. Porter was a graduate of Franklin High School, a retired office manager of the Union Camp Federal Credit Union, and a member of Woodmen of the World. She was a member of Franklin Baptist Church.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 57 years, Cecil Lawrence Porter, Sr.; a daughter, Cecilia P. Creech and husband, Wayne, of Raleigh, NC; a son, C. Lawrence Porter, Jr. and wife, Robin, of Charlotte, NC; three grandchildren, Jenna Leigh Creech, Aaron Porter Creech, Kathryn Paige Creech; a brother-in-law, Irvin Porter of Franklin, and two nephews, Max Porter of Courtland and Clay Porter of Franklin. Mrs. Porter was predeceased by two sisters, Nell Stradley and Willie Porter.
The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Wright Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. A. Richard Childress officiating. Interment will follow in Poplar Spring Cemetery.The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 pm Thursday at Wright Funeral Home and suggest memorials be made to Franklin Baptist Church, 208 North High Street, Franklin, Va. 23851. The family would like to thank the staff at the East Pavilion for their care during the last 22 months.
