Doris Jane Gillis

Holland – Doris Jane Holland Gillis, 90, passed away September 1, 2026 in Fairview Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center. Born and raised in Holland, she was a daughter of the late Abram Thomas Holland and Nellie Gray Fowler Holland. She was also predeceased by a brother, J. T. Holland, and two sisters, Mary Nell Holland Mathias and Judith Ann Holland.

Doris was a devout Christian, a prayer warrior, and always had her worn Bible close by her. She loved music, all children especially her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, and was the best story teller to them all.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Glynda Arrington (Mike) of Holland; her son, Brigadier General Doyle Gillis, Jr. (Jami) of Lexington, SC; five grandchildren, Doyle Gillis III (Susan), Stephen Arrington (Savannah), Rebecca McGrath (Trey), Addison Winter, and Evan Renee Winter; and six great grandchildren, Micah McGrath, Annabelle Arrington, Levi McGrath, Bear Arrington, Noah McGrath, and Doyle Gillis, IV.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11AM Friday, September 4, 2026 in Wright Funeral Home with Pastor Matthew Johnson and Pastor Stephen Arrington officiating. Burial will follow in Holland Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8PM Thursday in the funeral home and suggests memorial donations be made to Holland Baptist Church Building Fund. A reception at Holland Baptist Church will follow the burial.
