Suffolk – Doris Elizabeth Bailey Joyner Bryant, 99, passed away February 25, 2018. Doris was born in Boykins and was a former resident of Franklin. She was a daughter of the late Olie M. Bailey and Annie Mae Cutchins Bailey. Doris was raised in Como, NC where she attended Buckhorn Baptist Church. She was a retired beautician and a member of Sebrell Methodist Church from 1937 until its closing in recent years. She was preceded in death by a second mother, Lessie Hatfield Bailey; first husband Johnnie Joyner; second husband John Bryant; siblings Olie Mae Culpepper, Mildred Bailey, and C. C. Bailey; and son-in-law Bobby Cooper.

Doris is survived by a daughter Dorothy Mae Joyner Cooper of Suffolk; grandchildren Russell Cooper (Nancy) of Virginia Beach, Clarke Cooper (Julie) and Dana Mitchell (John) of Suffolk; great-grandchildren Jimmy, Aaron, Luke, Joshua, and Celeste Cooper, Dori and Clare Mitchell; sisters Patsy Parker and Brenda Futrell (Milton); brother Wayne Bailey (Judy); many nieces and nephews; dear friend Nick Nichols; special cat Tom (sent to Doris by God); and her nurse Heather.
