Franklin – Diane Baker Vasser, 82, passed away on February 12, 2024 in her home with family by her side.  Born in Portsmouth and raised Colerain, NC, she was a daughter of the late George Lloyd Baker and Juanita Phelps Baker.  She was also predeceased by two brothers, Carroll and David Baker, and a daughter-in-law, Laura Bowen.

Diane was a graduate of Colerain High School, a former employee of the Dept. of Agriculture and retired from the Dept. of Corrections where she was secretary for the warden.  She was a member of Burdette Baptist Church.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband 38 years, Roger Thomas Vasser; two sons, Ralph Chappell, Jr. and Timmy Chappell; a special grandson, Austin Chappell and six other grandchildren; and a dear friend Berdie Duck.

Services will be held at a later date.  The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Burdette Baptist Church, 35490 Burdette Rd., Franklin, VA 23851.

The family would like to thank Gentiva Hospice Care employees, Traci and Towyna, for the wonderful and kind care they showed her.  There are no two better people for the job.
