Deborah Vick
Ledbetter
May 27, 1954 — Oct 24, 2024
Franklin – Deborah Vick Ledbetter, 70, was welcomed into Heaven on October 24, 2024, surrounded by the family she held so dear. Her final moments were filled with the love and grace that marked her entire life, passing peacefully at Virginia Beach General Hospital after a recent, rapid health decline.
Born to the late L.C. and Virginia Vick, Deborah's life was blessed by the love and memories of those who went before her, including her cherished husband, Donald Ledbetter, and her beloved son, Derrick Ledbetter, who welcomed her in to Heaven.
A 1973 graduate of Windsor High School, Deborah later pursued accounting, earning an associate degree from Paul D. Camp Community College in Franklin. She dedicated her professional life to serving others, retiring in 2016 from the Franklin Police Department, where she worked with compassion and diligence as a 911 Dispatcher.
On Valentine's Day in 1977, Deborah married the love of her life, Don, a proud member of the U.S. Army. Their marriage was an adventure, taking them to places like Kentucky, Maryland, Germany (where they welcomed their son, Derrick), and Hawaii. After Don's sudden passing in 1983, Deborah returned home to Franklin with Derrick, embodying resilience and strength through her loss.
Faith was a cornerstone of Deborah's life, and she was a devoted member of Rock Church in Franklin. She cherished her past role as leader of the Ladies Life Group, where her warmth and wisdom touched the lives of many.
Deborah's true joy was her family. She adored family trips, cherished every gathering, and filled her loved ones' lives with laughter and love. Those who remain to honor her memory include her daughter-in-law, Holly Ledbetter, and her two precious granddaughters, Makenzie and Mayleigh Ledbetter, who were her pride and joy. Her memory is also held close by her sisters, Wanda Cotton and Sheila Johnstone, her brother, L.C. (Junior) Vick, nephew Daniel Johnstone, nieces Jamie Story and Sarah Kennedy (James), as well as her great-nieces Riley Johnson, Gianna Kennedy, Avery Story, Emersyn Kennedy, and great-nephew Colton Story. Alongside these loved ones are countless special cousins, extended family, and friends who were touched by her kindness and faith.
A celebration of Deborah's life will be held at the Rock Church of Franklin on Sunday, October 27, 2024, at 3:00 pm, with visitation beginning prior to service at 2:00 pm. In keeping with her generous spirit, the family kindly requests that donations be made in her memory to the Franklin Food Bank or a local charity of choice in lieu of flowers. Burial will be private.
Deborah's family will also receive visitors on Friday and Saturday evening at the home of Holly Ledbetter, 22231 Ball Park Rd., Newsoms, VA 23874, where stories and memories will be shared in her honor.
Deborah's life was a testament to the power of faith, family, and unconditional love. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew her, and her memory will forever be a source of comfort and inspiration.
