Franklin – David Edgar Wright, Jr., 81, passed away June 10, 2026 in his home with family by his side.  David grew up in Como, NC, and was a son of the late David Edgar Wright Sr. and Hazel Vann Wright.  He was also predeceased by his wives, Lou Ann Wright and Dottie Wright; his brother, Donnie Wright, and brother-in-law, John Eure.

David was a 1963 graduate of Murfreesboro High School.  He founded and was owner of Franklin Transportation Corporation and Franklin Truck and Trailer Service.  He cherished all of his family, friends, employees and customers.  David was a Mason, member of Franklin Lodge #151 and was a member of Buckhorn Baptist Church.  His favorite interests were spending time with his family, playing guitar and trips to his cottage on the Outer Banks.

Left to cherish his memory are his children, Keith Wright (Kira), Kevin Wright (Sarah), and Steve Wright (Lisa); his grandchildren, Dustin Wright, Morgan Jones (Seth), Sadie Wright, Henry Wright, Sally Wright, Samantha Thompson (Sydney), and Sarah Wright; great grandchildren, Emmie and Ellie Wright, and Waylon and Walker Jones; his sister, Linda Eure; the mother of his sons, Shirley Blythe (Keith); sister-in-law, Nancy Wright; and several nieces and nephews.

A special thank you is given to Medi Home Health and Hospice for the very special care he was given.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2PM Saturday, June 13, 2026 in Wright Funeral Home with Pastor Ron Carr officiating.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the funeral home and suggests memorial donations be made to Delaware Hunt Club or any favorite local charity.
