Smithfield – Family and friends mourn the tragic loss of David Lee Bracy, 60, on Tuesday, July 24, 2007 as a result of an experimental plane loss in Surry, Va. David was a longtime resident of Franklin and the son of the late Benjamin Lee and Elizabeth Mae Tiller Bracy.
David was a retired supervisor from the Union Camp Corporation with 25 years service. He was a Master Mason in Lodge #30, currently serving as Senior Warden and would have been installed as Worshipful Master in December. He was also a member of the Suffolk Ruritan Club, Sons of the Confederacy, and was a Suffolk Auxillary Policeman. He and his son, Kevin, shared a home improvement business approriately named "Your Spare Hand".
David is survived by his only son, Kevin Lee Bracy, of Sedley, Va.; his extended longtime family, Claudia, Betty, and Edward Lamb, of Newport News; dear friends, Trish and Greg Parker; and his beloved dog, Hammer. All that knew David would say that he was a Man of God that served God and his fellow man and was a "Giant" among men. No words can express how he will be missed.
There will be a gathering of family and friends from four to six p. m., Saturday, July 28, at the home of Bob and Carol Saunders at 13503 Great Springs Road, Smithfield, Va. A graveside service will be conducted at 2:15 pm Sunday at Poplar Spring Cemetery, Franklin, with the Rev. Jim Wall officiating.
