Sedley – David Morris 'Dave" Scherr, 62, passed away unexpectedly Friday evening, December 5, 2014. Dave was born in Suffolk and was predeceased by his father, Brad Scherr.
After many years in the tire and automotive industry, Dave and Dee left the corporate world to become mushroom farmers. In 2003, Dave and Dee's Home Grown Mushrooms became a reality.
Dave is survived by his wife of 32 years, Dee Scherr; his beloved daughter, Amy Scherr; mother, Pearl Scherr; his sister, Margaret S. Sawyer and husband, Bill, of Chesapeake; a niece, Elizabeth Sawyer-Malinas ; a nephew, Brandon Sawyer and Dave's well- loved dog, Nellie Bell.
A celebration of Dave's life will be held at 2 PM Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at Wright Funeral Home, 206 W. 4th Ave., Franklin, with the Pastor Paul Harfst officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Food Bank of Southeastern Virginia, 800 Tidewater Dr., Norfolk, VA 23504.
