C. Johnson Boyd
Franklin - Cornelius Johnson Boyd, 88, entered eternal rest March 14, 2007 in Ellicott City, Maryland. A native of West End, NC, he was a son of the late Benjamin Robert and Nelia Florence Caddell Boyd and was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Kathleen Spencer Boyd. He served with distinction in the US Army 164th Combat Engineer Battalion during WWII and was a retired executive of Reliable Stores, Inc. He lived many years in the Norfolk/Virginia Beach area before relocating to Maryland. He was also predeceased by a brother, Philip Caddell Boyd and a sister, Minnie Belle Parham.
Survivors include his sister-in-law, Jane Boyd of Huntsville, Alabama; niece, Phyllis Boyd Cutrell of Savannah, Georgia and nephew, Neil Boyd of Huntsville, Alabama; great nephews, Chadwell Champion, Christopher Caddell Champion, Johnathon Casey McPeters and Michael Trevan McPeters and numerous cousins; Spencer family nieces, Lynne Kathleen Kennedy, Rosalie Lowman, Barbara Newham, Shirley Robinson, Joyce Ellingsworth and nephews, John H. Stafford, P. Jeffries Stafford and David S. Stafford; great nieces Stephanie Ellis, who provided much assistance with his care, Courtney Ellis, Anne Rae Brown and the late Terri Patterson.
A graveside funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in Windsor Cemetery, Windsor, VA with the Rev. Sharon James officiating.
