Franklin – Clara Ann Scott Foster, 72, a devoted Christian, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, died February 28, 2007.Born in Isle of Wight County, she was a daughter of the late Walter and Virginia Turner Scott and was a faithful employee of Belk, formerly Leggett Department Store, for over 25 years where she loved her customers and her customers loved her. She was a member of Franklin Congregational Christian Church.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 52 years, Shirley Brown Foster; two sons, Ronnie Foster and wife, Margaret, of Courtland and Michael Foster, of Franklin; two sisters, Violet Barlow of Smithfield and Ella Keith of Newport News; a brother, Parker Scott of Rescue, Va.; six grandchildren, Chris Foster, Derek Foster, Daryl Foster, Michael Vandiford, Jr., Stuart Doughtie, Jr., Curtis Doughtie and a great-grandchild, Jaden Edwards. She was predeceased by three sisters, Alice Carter, Twilia Jones and Leslie Reynolds and two brothers, Walter Scott and John Scott.
The funeral will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Franklin Congregational Christian Church with the Rev. James H. Hyatt, Jr. and the Rev. Lafayette Wilkins officiating. Interment will follow in Holly Lawn Cemetery, Suffolk. The family will receive friends today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Wright Funeral Home and suggests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society, c/o Kathy Worrell, 717 Fairview Dr., Franklin or Franklin Congregational Christian Church, 412 North High St., Franklin, VA 23851.
