Christine Copeland West

Suffolk – Christine Copeland West, 88, passed away September 19, 2026 in Autumn Care of Suffolk. Born and raised in Nansemond County, she was a daughter of the late Frank Rufus Copeland, Sr. and Betty Marsh Copeland. She was also predeceased by her husband, Glenn Reid West and two brothers, Frank R. Copeland, Jr. and Rudolph Copeland.

Christine was a graduate of Holland High School and a retired secretary for the Tidewater Agricultural Research and Extension Center. She was a member of Holland Baptist Church and South Quay Baptist Church.

Left to cherish her memory is her daughter Glenda West Johnson (James); two sons, Wayland West (Robyn Nunnally) and Stephen West (Lori); seven grandchildren, Angie Johnson Geddings (Bryan), Matthew Johnson (Kristy), McKayla Dunn (Noah), Sheridan West, Rhett West, Alyssa West, and Jett West; five great grandchildren, Brennan and Abby O’Neal, Zachariah and Hannah Johnson, and Ellie Dunn; a sister-in-law, Beverly Copeland; and a brother-in-law, Hugh A. West.

A Funeral Service will be held at 2PM Friday, September 25, 2026 in Wright Funeral Home with Pastor Matthew Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Holland Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8PM Thursday in the funeral home and suggests memorial donations be made to Holland Baptist Church, Planting a Legacy Fund, P. O. Box 7086, Suffolk, VA 23437.
