Franklin – Christine Miles Spivey, 86, widow of Archer B. Spivey, died Monday, July 21, 2008. Born in Isle of Wight County, she was a daughter of the late Reuben and Lullian Outland Miles. She was predeceased by a sister, Lucille Beckett and two brothers Cecil and Wilson Miles.
Christine was a graduate of Paul D. Camp with a degree in Food Service management. She was a retired cafeteria supervisor at Carrsville Elementary School and had worked in the Isle of Wight Co. Public School System for 20 years. She was a member of Colosse Baptist Church, and active at the Beaver Dam Baptist Church where she was a member of senior citizen group the Eager Beavers.
Survivors include two daughters, Judith Rhodes and husband, Maurice, of Carrsville, Melanie Gwaltney and husband, Jesse, of Windsor; one son, Everett Spivey and wife, Amelia, of Franklin; one sister, Virl Waterfield of Smithfield; five grandchildren, Renee Lankford, Natalie Butler, Duane Rhodes, Katelyn Gwaltney, Trent Gwaltney; and three great-grandchildren, Traci and Tyler Butler and Dylon Lankford.
A funeral service will be conducted Wednesday at 11 am at Wright Funeral Home with the Rev. Tim Webb officiating. Interment will follow in Colosse Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 8:30 pm at the funeral home and other times at the home of Judith Rhodes, 27503 Walters Hwy, Carrsville.
