Courtland – Christian Wells Moore ("Papa Dud"), 81, passed away August 1, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family. Mr. Moore was a native of Buckingham County and was a son of the late Samuel and Ethel Wells Moore. Mr. Moore starting logging at the age of 10 with his daddy and at the age of 16 went out on his own with his brother Omar and later with his four sons which is now C.W. Moore Logging LLC. Mr. Moore was a member of the Windsor Seventh Day Adventist Church.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 65 years Hazel Jennings Moore, one daughter Hazel Elizabeth McFadden (Billy), four sons, Ronald Lewis Moore, Samuel Christian Moore (Theresa), Timothy Wells Moore (Pamela) and Daniel Trent Moore (Annetta), two sisters, Estelle B. Moore and Marshall Moore Gentry, one brother, Omar H. Moore, eight grandchildren, Joseph Moore (Lisa), David Moore (Robin), Jason Moore (Amy), Andrew McFadden (Heather), Christine McFadden, Kevin Moore (Jessica), Kaye Moore and Dale Moore, nine great grandchildren, Hunter Edwards (Kayla), Christian Moore, Jacob Moore, Rebecca Moore, Chase McFadden, Justin Moore, Jackson Moore, Benjamin Moore and Grayson McFadden, three great-great grandchildren, Paighton, Brady and Ashton (to be) and a host of nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents Mr. Moore was predeceased by two brothers, Ottice Z. Moore and Samuel Arther Moore and two sisters, Riley W. Mitchell and Ethel Harweda Moore Mitchell and a daughter-in-law Rebecca S. Moore.

A funeral will be conducted at 1PM Friday, August 4, 2017 in the Windsor Seventh Day Adventist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church Thursday evening from 6:30 to 8:30PM.
