Courtland- Davis Chestine "Ches" Magette, Jr., 64, owner and operator or Magette Well Company, passed away January 16, 2009 at his home. A lifelong resident of Southampton County, he was a son of the late Davis Chestine and Grace Williams Magette. He was a member of Courtland United Methodist Church and the Courtland Ruritan Club.
Surviving are his two sons, Glenn Corbitt Magette of Courtland and Davis C. Magette, III and wife, Isabel, of Weston, Fl., and three grandchildren, Zachary Corbitt Magette, Sophia Isabel Magette and Matthew Davis Magette. He was predeceased by a sister, Wren Harrell, and two brothers, Robert L. and Raymond W. Magette.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Courtland United Methodist Church with the Rev. Richard Gordon officiating. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Wright Funeral Home, Franklin.
