Obituary

Courtland – Charlotte Saunders Malcolm-Woodie, 78, passed away August 25, 2018 in Sentara Obici Hospital. Charlotte was a native of Southampton County and a former resident of Portsmouth and Seabring, FL. She was a daughter of the late Willie Allen Saunders and Otelia Gay Saunders. She attended Tucker Swamp Baptist Church and loved gospel music.

Survivors include one daughter Penny O'Donnell and husband Steve of Courtland, one sister Brenda Marshall of Franklin, three grandchildren, Edward, Katie and Meagan O'Donnell, three great grandchildren, Kirby Ann and Marlee Grace O'Donnell and Gabrielle Nevaeh Edwards and a host of nieces and nephews.

Charlotte was predeceased by her first husband Edward Walter Malcolm, Jr., her second husband Rodger Lee Woodie, five sisters, Frances Edwards, Mary Munford, Willie Clark, Becky Hedgepeth, Nancy Hall and two brothers, A.J. Saunders and Johnnie Saunders.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 AM Wednesday August 29, 2018 in Wright Funeral Home with Pastor Joe Poe officiating. The burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Chesapeake. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8PM Tuesday at the funeral home and suggests that memorial donations be made to the Courtland Fire Dept. www.wrightfuneralhome.org
