Boykins – Charles Edward "Sonny" Whittemore, Jr., 75, passed away February 10, 2014. A native of South Hill, VA, he was the son of the late Charles Edward Whittemore, Sr. and Nellie Carter Whittemore. He was a graduate of Smithdeal-Massey College, an Army Reservist, retired Manager of Narricot Industries and a member of Boykins United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his daughter Connie W. Poland and husband, Chet; son, Stephen Whittemore; two brothers, Randy Whittemore of Midlothian and Joe Whittemore of Alberta; two grandchildren, Robert Poland and Richard Poland; two nieces, Tracey Jameson and Abby Knott; one nephew, Chris Whittemore and godchildren, Jim Modlin and Dee Modlin Clary.
The funeral will be held at 11 AM Friday, February 14, 2014 at Wright Funeral Home, Boykins with the Rev. Michael Baugham officiating. A gravesisde service will be at 2 PM at Crestview Memorial Park, South Hill, VA. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Thursday, February 13, at the funeral home and suggest memorials be made to Boykins United Methodist Church.
