Franklin - Charles Fisher Kingery, Sr., 83, died April 29, 2008. Born in Franklin County, he was the son of the late Walter P. and Mary Hudson Kingery; and was a retired pharmacist/proprietor of Parker Drug Co. in Franklin.
"Charlie" was preceded in death by his wife, Naomi Hall Kingery, and two sisters Mildred Kingery and Emma Renick. He was a member of Franklin Baptist Church, the Franklin Rotary Club, and was chairman of the State Board of Pharmacy.
After attending the University of Richmond, he joined the US Army Air Corps, serving as a B-17 Navigator in the European theater. He then completed his Pharmacy degree at Medical College of Virginia.
Survivors include his daughter, Donna K. Hudgins and husband, Dr. Carter Hudgins, of Fredericksburg and their children, Caroline, Cary, Carter C. and wife Grayson; son, Dr. Charles Kingery and wife, Jean, of Southern California, and their children, Keturah, Noah, and Naomi; son, Terry Kingery of Atlanta, GA; sister, Adeline Moore of Abingdon and two brothers, William and Walter Kingery, both of Rocky Mount.
A celebration of life will be held at 3:30 pm Saturday at Franklin Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. A. Richard Childress and the Rev. Sharon James officiating. The family will receive friends at the residence, Friday, from 7 to 9 pm and suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Franklin Baptist Church, 208 North High Street, Franklin, Va. 23851 or ProVision Asia, Northway Baptist Church, 3877 Walnut Hill Lane, Dallas, Tx. 75229.
