Franklin – Charles Wayne Jeffries, Sr., 78, passed away June 24, 2025 in Southampton Memorial Hospital.  Born in Suffolk and raised in Burdette/Black Creek, he was a son of the late Charles Berkley Jeffries and Mary Lucille Johnson Jeffries.  He was also predeceased by a sister, Rose Annette Holt and two brothers-in-law, James Holt and Cliff Hedgepeth.

Wayne was an Army Veteran serving in Vietnam and was a former Virginia National Guardsman.  He was a retired lead man in Roll Finishing at International Paper and was a member of the VFW and South Quay Baptist Church.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 55 years, Julia Ann Jeffries; a son, Charles Wayne Jeffries, Jr. (Angela); a sister, Jean Jeffries Hedgepeth; three grandchildren, Betty Ann Jeffries, Charles Wayne Jeffries, III, and April Marie Jeffries; two great grandchildren, Savannah Marie Britt and Julianna Caroline Morris; a niece and three nephews.

A Graveside Service will be held at 11AM Tuesday July 1, 2025 in Black Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with Pastor Dean Jester officiating.
