Charles Greer
Gatten
Mar 1, 1954 — May 22, 2026
Franklin - Charles Greer Gatten, "Chuck", age 72, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2026, following a brief illness. Chuck was born on March 1, 1954, to the late Emily and Dr. Ernest B. Gatten, Jr. He was a devoted husband, family man, and loyal friend, but far more: entrepreneur, business owner, accomplished guitarist, photographer, and someone who could have everyone laughing seconds after walking into the room. He especially loved spending time with Cherie', sitting on the beach with friends, biking, traveling, listening to music, playing his guitar, and much more.
Chuck's love for his family was expressed by the big family dinners he would have at his home on the holidays where he looked forward to bringing everyone together. His annual Christmas parties for his friends and neighbors were always something to look forward to. Chuck's warmth, kindness, sense of humor, and love for life left an indelible mark on everyone who knew him. He could always say or do something that was kind, humorous, or helpful, but always memorable.
He will be deeply missed by his wide and inclusive circle of friends, his family who meant so much to him, and all who had the privilege of sharing in his journey.
He is survived by his cherished and dedicated wife, Andrea Cherie' Gatten, and his three stepchildren, Brianna Levine (Kevin), Erin Karmilovich-Weaver (Malachi), Conner Karmilovich and two grandchildren, Adelyn and Eloise Weaver. He also leaves behind his best friend and brother, Dr. E. Burdette Gatten, III, (Joann); his nieces, Dr. Gabby Gatten (Daniel Bagbey) and their daughter Greer; Barclay Gatten; his cousins Becky Jester (Frank)and Catherine Diesta (Robert); cousins Meredith Martin ( John); and William De Luca (Sarah).
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, Emily and Ernie Gatten, Jr., and his older sister, Caroline Gatten.
A Celebration of Life service will be held in honor of Charles on Saturday, June 6th, 2026, 11:00 AM at the Ben Dillon Life Center/Rock Church.
