Carrsville – Charles Geobelle Futrell, 79, died July 18, 2009 at Consulate Healthcare Center in Windsor. He was born in Northampton County, NC, the son of the late Junius Godwin and Ruth Brown Futrell. and was predeceased by his sister, Iola Morris. A Navy veteran of the Korean War, he was retired from the power plant at Union Camp Corporation after 41 years. Charles was a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, June Davidson Futrell; one daughter, Cynthia F. Joy of Franklin; two sons, Gary Charles Futrell and wife, Lona, and Timothy Mark Futrell and wife, Mary, all of Courtland; and five grandchildren, Emily F. Bein and husband, Stephen, Joel Futrell and wife, Brandy, April Joy, Hannah Futrell, and Conner Futrell.
A graveside service will be conducted Tuesday at 10: 30 am at Beaver Dam Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. Richard Peerey officiating. The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 8:30 pm at Wright Funeral Home, and suggests memorials be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 6350 Center Drive Suite 102, Norfolk, VA. 23502.
