Sunbury, NC – Carla Marie Whaley, 55, passed away July 28, 2016 at her daughter's home. Born in Franklin, VA, she was a former resident of Carrsville, and worked as a millwright. She was predeceased by her mother, Brenda Joyce Vaughan Watley.
Left to cherish her memory is her father, Carlos "Carl" Alonza Blankenship; two daughters, Tosha Lee Rowland (Daniel) of Gates and Leona Joyce Santamaria (Freddy) of Brandon, Mississippi; a sister, Lisa Kay Parker of Gates and five grandchildren, Tyler Rowland, Sharraden Perkins, Victoria Whaley, Miguel Rubio and Harley Rubio.
The funeral will be held at 1PM Sunday at Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, VA with burial to follow in Southampton Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Saturday at the funeral home and suggests donations be made to Cancer Treatment Centers of America, Gateway for Cancer Research, 1336 Basswood Rd., Schaumburg, Illinois, 60173.
