Emporia – Dr. Carl David Hellberg, DDS, 74, a dentist for thirty seven years in Emporia, passed away May 27, 2011 at Community Memorial Health Center in South Hill. He was born in Holyoke, MA, reared and educated in Franklin, a graduate of UVA and the MCV School of Dentistry and an Army veteran. Dr. Hellberg was a member of Christ Episcopal Church and the Emporia Rotary Club.
Survivors include two sons, Carl Stephen Hellberg and wife, Lisa, of Bethesda, MD, and Robert Christer Hellberg of Japan; one grandson, Scott Hellberg, and one sister, Mary Ann Morgan of Portsmouth. He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Brynhild Hellberg.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 pm Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, VA, with the Rev. Colin C. Cooper officiating. Interment will follow in Poplar Spring Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 1 to 2 pm at the funeral home and suggests memorials be made to Christ Episcopal Church, 111 Battery Ave, Emporia, Va. 23841.
