Courtland - Bruce Thomas Blythe, 68, left his earthly body and rose to glory on August 19, 2025. He was predeceased by his infant son, Matthew Abbot Blythe, his parents, D.C. and Marie Blythe, his brothers, David C. Blythe and Michael Blythe, and his sister, Jean Outland and her husband Carlton Outland.
Bruce is survived by his wife of 46 years, Renee D. Blythe, and his boys who were his pride and joy, Adam and wife Tiffany, Ryan, and Jordan and wife Heather. He felt very blessed to be a very special Papa to the apple of his eye, Corbin Matthew Blythe. He was looking forward to welcoming a new grandson into the family in December. Bruce left behind a host of nieces and nephews that loved Uncle Bruce who was always kidding with them, sisters-in-law, Phyllis Blythe (Hinton), Janet Brumfield, and Deborah Carter and his brother-in-law Bud whom he loved as a brother. He also leaves behind many dear friends that have been a source of strength to him during the years of his declining health.
He graduated from Windsor High School where he was known for his love of basketball. He treasured all of his days of glory on the court. Bruce had such respect and admiration and love for basketball greats Pete Maravich, Caitlin Clark, and his favorite player of all times whom he admired the most – his brother Mike.
Bruce followed in his father's footsteps running the family business at Blythe Dodge. He enjoyed his career in car sales where he took pride in working for Lydia and Eley Duke at Duke Automotive, Shep Bell at Bell Motors, and Blake Blythe at Blake Ford. His co-workers truly became part of his family.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11AM Friday, August 22, 2025 in Wright Funeral Home with Pastor Burt Pearce officiating. Burial will be private. Visitation will be at his home, 23415 Wyanoke Ln., Courtland, VA. Memorial donations can be made to CHKD or the American Cancer Society.
