Franklin – Bruce Henry Adams, 72, passed away December 17, 2008 at the East Pavilion. A native and longtime resident of Java, Va., he was a son of the late Raymond Terry and Isabel Finch Adams. He was a member of Providence United Methodist Church, a charter member of Java Volunteer Fire Department, and a retired tobacco farmer.
Left to cherish his memory is his daughter, Wanda Adams Marks and husband, Eddie, of Courtland; two sisters, Narvie Richards of Wake Forest, NC and Juanita Adkins of Java; one brother, Calvin Adams of Roanoke and one grandson, Joshua Adam Marks of Cary, NC. Mr. Adams was predeceased by a sister, Mildred Shelton and two brothers, Hugh Adams and Wilbur Adams.
Family receive friends one hour prior to the service. A memorial service will be conducted at 1 pm Friday at Providence United Methodist Church with the Rev. Charles Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at 3 pm at Highland Memorial Burial Ground in Danville. The family will receive friends at the home of Wanda and Eddie Marks, 23424 Thomas Circle, Courtland. Memorials may be made to Providence United Methodist Church, Java, Va.; Java Volunteer Fire Department, Java, Va.; or a favorite charity.
