Courtland – Brenda Walker Via, 55, died August 4, 2009. She was a daughter of Joann Hale Walthall and the late James Joseph Walker. Brenda was also predeceased by a brother, Greg Walker and a granddaughter, Taylor Buhls. She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church and attended Millfield Baptist Church. Brenda enjoyed playing piano and guitar and was a former minister of music at the First Church of God in Newport News.
Survivors include her companion, Scot McNally; her daughter, Dreama V. Regula; her son, G. Nathan E. Via; two brothers, Clifton Walker and Stefon Walker; and nine grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 1 pm Friday at Wright Funeral Home with the Rev. Jay Butcher officiating. Interment will follow in Millfield Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends today (Thursday) from 7 to 8:30 pm at the funeral home. www.wrightfuneralhome.org
