Greenville, NC – Bradley Shane Beatty, 35, died May 12, 2008. He was born in Suffolk, VA., and was predeceased by his father, Leon Carter Beatty. Shane was a 1990 graduate of Southampton Academy and a 1995 graduate of East Carolina University. He owned rental property in Greenville, did electrical work, and owned and operated Big Al's Tavern. He was a lifetime member of Boykins United Methodist Church and 12-year member of the Brotherhood Motorcycle Club in Greenville, NC. He was an animal lover and became involved in animal rescue of dogs of all breeds, hosting as many as 15 at times at Camp Shane.
Survivors include his mother, Linda Edwards Beatty of Boykins, VA.; his girlfriend, Mona VanNortwick of Greenville; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and a multitude of good friends.
A funeral service will be conducted Friday at 2 pm at the Boykins United Methodist Church with the Rev. Michael Baugham officiating. Interment will follow in Beechwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 8:30 pm at the Boykins Chapel of Wright Funeral Home, 32247 South Main Street, Boykins, VA. 23827, and suggests memorials be made to the Viet Nam Veterans Association, Chapter 272, P. O. Box 171, Greenville, N. C. 27835 an organization which was supported by Big Al's Tavern and the Brotherhood through weekly steak night dinners at the bar. www.wrightfuneralhome.org
