Franklin – Betty Jo Harrell Whitehead, 50, was called home to be with her Lord on May 29, 2007. Born in Los Angeles, California, she was a daughter of the late William Henry and Eunice Cutchins Harrell . Betty Jo was employed with the Southampton County School Board and was a member of Hunterdale United Church of Christ.
Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband and best friend of 33 years, Douglas H. Whitehead; her daughter, Ginny W. Carr and husband, Cliff, of Windsor; her son, Ryan D. Whitehead of Franklin; her beloved grandson and Nana's pride and joy, Shawn Douglas Whitehead; two sisters, Patricia Harrell of Sedley and Cynthia Kitchen and husband, Chuck, of Franklin; two brothers, Bill Harrell and wife, Brenda, of Walters and Tommy Harrell and wife, Sharon, of Carrsville; mother-in-law, Marjorie Whitehead of Franklin; sister-in-law, Kaye Story and husband, Rubin, of Franklin; brothers-in-law Col. Frank Whitehead and wife, Barbara, of Springfield and Billy Whitehead and wife, Lorraine, of Sedley and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the chapel of Wright Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Bradshaw officiating. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Courtland. The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home and suggests memorials be made to Children's Hospital of the King's Daughters, P.O.
