Courtland – Betty Dickerson Edwards, 80, passed away August 3, 2023, in East Pavilion.  Born in Emporia and brought up in Southampton County, she was a daughter of the late Richard Moss Dickerson and Emily Thornton Dickerson.  She was also predeceased by two sisters, Linda D. Raiford and Jeannie D. Fuller.

Betty was a 1960 graduate of Southampton High School and a graduate of Pan American Business College.  She was a retired secretary for Farm Credit with 25 years of service.  Betty was a member of the Courtland Woman's Club and Courtland Baptist Church.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 61 years, James Linwood Edwards; two sons, Richard William "Rich" Edwards (Barbara) of Virginia Beach and Jason Bryce Edwards (Melissa) of Houston, TX; a sister, Peggy Bass of Courtland; three grandchildren, Christian Thomas Edwards, Cole Richard Edwards, and Bryce Hilton Edwards; two nieces, Christy Wilson and Lori Edwards; and three nephews, Sam Bass, Mel Bass and Ed Atkins.

Services will be private.  The family suggests that memorial donations be made to Courtland Baptist Church.
