Obituary

Franklin – Betty Jean Turner Daughtrey, 80, passed away peacefully January 31, 2026. Betty Jean was born March 9, 1945 in Carrsville, Va, a daughter of the late Charlie LeRoy Turner and Nellie Grace McClenny Turner. She was also predeceased by her husband, James Edward "Goat" Daughtrey and her siblings, Virgie Archer, Essie Stevens, Charlie LeRoy Turner, Jr., Elsie Elder, and Clifton Lee Turner. She was also predeceased by three sons in law, Woodrow Ferguson, Jr, Roy B. Campbell, Jr., and Robert Kirk Whitlley. Betty Jean was a retired equipment operator at Franklin Equipment Company and was brought up in Beaver Dam Baptist Church.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Jean Ferguson, Loretta Campbell, and Grace Whitley, six sisters, Marjorie Copeland, Christine Cameron, Irene Williams, Mary Turner, Margaret Brown (David), Audrey Turner, three grandchildren, Matthew Edward Ferguson, Wesley Allen Campbell, Ryan Wayne Campbell, and one great grandchild, Bentley James Ferguson.

A funeral service will be held at 2 pm Thursday, February 5, 2026 in Wright Funeral Home with Pastor Randy Wright officiating. Burial will follow in Southampton Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 4, 2026 at the funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, Harvest Christian Fellowship, or your local animal shelter.
