Franklin - Betty Blythe Darden went home to be with her heavenly Father God on February 3, 2026. She was born on July 14,1952, to Daniel C. Blythe and Mildred A. Blythe. She was predeceased by both of her parents noted above, and her sister, Carolyn Willman.
She was well known for her beautiful smile and hard work ethic. She began working at the age of 12 years old and made many friends throughout her employment endeavors at St. Regis, A&P, her former businesses B&S Western Shop (2), Holiday Foods, and lastly Greensville Correctional Center.
Betty always put her family first and adored her cat, "calico." She was the most caring and forgiving person. Once upon a time, she was a caregiver in her own home where she cared for family members of others who did not want their family put into nursing home facilities. She was selfless, and always there to help others whether it be for a ride to the doctor, grocery store, making soup for those who were sick, and baking her famous chocolate and lemon meringue pies for family, friends, and neighbors. She never knew a stranger.
She leaves behind a brother, Robert (Buddy) E. Blythe, a daughter, Angela C. Jeffries (Charles), a son, John Cornwell (Tammy); six grandchildren: Justin Turner, Erika Niles (Kyle), John Cornwell, Jr. (Kristen), Betty Jeffries, Charles (CJ) Jeffries, III, and April Jeffries; six great grandchildren: Kaleb Niles, Elaina Niles, Savannah Britt, Julianna Morris, John (Tripp) Cornwell, III, and Emma Cornwell; nieces, Amy Salyers, Kim Blythe, Kelley Willman; nephew, Bernie Willman; and great nephews, Nathan Salyers, Jacob Salyers.
A memorial service will be held Monday February 9, 2026 at 2 P.M. at Hunterdale Christian Church with Pastor Dean Jester officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service in the church. A reception will follow the service in the fellowship hall.
In lieu of flowers, you can make donations to Hunterdale Christian Church, Alzheimer's Association, or a favorite charity.
