Franklin – Betty Shufflebarger Butler, 81, widow of William Robert "Bobby" Butler, Jr., died October 26, 2010 at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. She was born in Bland, a daughter of the late Herman and Euna Karnes Shufflebarger and was predeceased by a sister, Doris Shufflebarger and a brother Eugene Shufflebarger. Mrs. Butler was a teacher at Carrsville Elementary and retired after 30 years teaching. She was a member of High Street United Methodist Church.
Left to cherish her memory are two sons, Dennis Wayne Butler of Courtland and Paul Lee Butler of Franklin; and two grandchildren, Amanda L. Butler and P. Wayne Butler.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 am Friday, October 29, 2010 at Wright Funeral Home with the Rev. Susan Reaves officiating. Interment will follow at Southampton Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 pm Thursday at the funeral home.
