Boykins – Bettie Eastwood Newsome, 81, passed away peacefully Sunday, May 4, 2025 at The Village at Woods Edge.  Born July 4, 1943, in Jacksonville, North Carolina, she was a daughter of the late Herbert M. Eastwood and Bettie Phillips Harris Eastwood.  She was also predeceased by her husband, Joseph R. Newsome, Jr. and an infant brother, Herbert M. Eastwood, Jr.

Bettie was a retired corporate secretary for Resinall Corporation in Severn, NC and was a member of Boykins Baptist Church.

Left to cherish her memory are two sons, Matthew W. Robertson, III (Francy) and Todd E. Newsome (Susan); a sister, Marian E. Taylor (Richard); and two grandchildren, William N. Robertson (Kyndall) and Brooke R. Peele (Brian).

A Graveside Service will be held at 1PM Saturday, May 10, 2025 in Beechwood Cemetery in Boykins, VA with Officiant Pam Smith officiating. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to The Village at Woods Edge.
