Courtland – Bernard Wilmer Pittman, 64, passed away August 16, 2025 in Bon Secours St. Mary's Hospital.  A life-long resident of Courtland, he was a son of the late William Thomas "Tommy" Pittman, Jr. and Frances Gillette Pittman.  He was also predeceased by two brothers, Hugh Gillette Pittman and John Francis Pittman.

Wilmer was a 1979 graduate of Southampton Academy and attended NC State. He was brought up in Courtland Methodist Church and was a life-long farmer in Southampton County and member of Manry Hunt Club.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 40 years, Linda Whitehead Pittman; three children, William Dudley Pittman, Wilmer Ryan Pittman (Amanda), and Peyton Leigh Pittman Scott (Clay); a grandson, Thomas James Pittman; a brother, W. T. "Bill" Pittman, III (April); and nieces and nephews.

Services will be private.  Memorial donations may be made to Southampton Academy or Courtland Vol. Fire Department.
