Franklin – Barbara Irene Smith, 72, passed away September 30, 2020 in her home.  Born on March 4, 1948 in Suffolk, she was a daughter of the late Millard Ronald Smith and Bessie Harrell Smith.  She is also predeceased by a son Kenneth Harold Stewart, Sr.

Survivors include four sons, Tom Stewart (Ana) of Nathalie, VA, Tim Stewart (Tina) of Zebulon, NC, Chris Stewart, Jr. (Deborah) of Gates, NC, and Stephen Stewart (Fancy) of Suffolk; a sister, Frances Walker of Ohio; two brothers, Ivan and Allen Smith both of Roanoke Rapids, NC; a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren; and her partner, David Mulrooney of Franklin.

Services will be private.  The family suggests that memorial donations be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 7202 Glen Forest Dr., Suite 102, Richmond, VA 23226.
