Fishersville, Va. – Barbara Ann Scott, 82, died August 21, 2007. She was born in Wallace, NC, a daughter of the late John Herman and Neta Franklin Carr Scott. A graduate of Longwood College, she was Director of the Staunton/Augusta County Department of Social Services for many years. "Bobbie", as she was known by family and friends, appreciated the world around her with a deep compassion for other people and for all living things. Her personal life, like her professional career in social services, was characterized by an abiding concern for the suffering of others and the alleviation of that suffering. Yet even with the hardships of others and her own declining health in later years, it was Bobbie's humor, her dry wit, that defined her personality.
Left to cherish her memory is her sister, Neta Scott Hart and husband, Glenn, of Winston-Salem, NC; three nieces, Julie Sunderman and Barbara West, both of Atlanta, Ga, Neta Morgan of Winston-Salem, NC; a nephew, Glenn Hart, Jr. of Little Plymouth, Va; a cousin, Ritchie Scott and wife, Rosemary, of Franklin, Va; and great-nieces and great-nephews
A graveside funeral will be conducted at 11 am Saturday, August, 25, in Poplar Spring Cemetery, Franklin, Va. with the Rev. Larry Nolff officiating.
