Obituary

Franklin - Annie Maye Goodwin, 99, slipped away at home on the morning of December 31, 2008. She was born in Oxford, North Carolina, daughter of the late John T. and Esther Overton Mangum. A resident of Franklin, Virginia for over fifty years, she most recently resided at the Village at Wood's Edge. Mrs. Goodwin was predeceased by her husband, William Hunter Goodwin, Sr. She was a long-time devoted member of High Street United Methodist Church where she had been a Sunday School teacher and member of the choir.
She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Goodwin Price, and her husband, Dennis, of Chesapeake, and her son, William H. Goodwin, Jr., and his wife, Alice, of Richmond; seven grandchildren, Paul D. Price, Martha Hunter Price Turner, W. Hunter Goodwin, III, Molly Goodwin Hardie, Matthew T. Goodwin, S. Camp Goodwin, and Peter O. Goodwin; and nine great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held at 11 a. m. on Saturday, January 3, in High Street United Methodist Church by the Rev. Susan M. Reaves. A reception will follow in the fellowship hall. There will be an interment at Poplar Spring following the reception.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the building fund of High Street United Methodist Church, 301 West First Avenue, Franklin, Va. 23851.
