Franklin- Anne Griffis Spivey, 85, passed away July 12, 2014 at the Dunlop House in Colonial Heights. Mrs. Spivey was born in Smithfield, VA to the late Frederick Gordon and Ethel Winder Griffis and was predeceased by two brothers, Milton and Perry Griffis.


She was a member of Hunterdale Christian Church.
A beloved and devoted wife and mother, she leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of 66 years, J.D. Spivey, one daughter, Kay S. Walsh (Michael) of Harrisonburg, two sons, Andrew G. "Drew" Spivey of North Prince George, and Larry D. Spivey (Margaret) of Colonial Heights, five grandchildren, Davis Walsh (Kristen), Katie Walsh, Kelly Anne Holemon (James), Allison and Whit Spivey and two great grandchildren, Emma Walsh and Christian Spivey.

A graveside funeral will be held at 3 PM Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at the Colosse Cemetery, Windsor, with the Rev. Randy Wright officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:30 PM prior to the funeral at Wright Funeral Home. Memorial donations may be made to the Franklin Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 179, Franklin, VA 23851.
