Newport News – Anne Smith Copenhaver, 69, passed away August 21, 2021 in the Riverside Regional Medical Center.   Born and raised in Franklin, she was a daughter of the late Alvin Smith and Mamie Taylor Smith Craft.  She is also predeceased by a son, Dennis James "Jamie" Watson and a sister, Suzette Craun.

Anne was a graduate of Franklin High School.  She was a retired x-ray technician and medical assistant.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Clarence Bennett "Cope" Copenhaver, Jr.; her children, Michelle Smith Tomlin (Michael) and George Wade Watson, Jr. (Melody Blount); her step children, Anne Watson Bryant (Wiley), John David Watson, and Nichole Copenhaver Rodriguez (Harry); two brothers, Bobby Smith (Sandy) and David Smith (Robin); fourteen grandchildren, Amanda, Eliza, Kayla, Mia, Brooke, Tristan, Logan, Cricket, Sadie, Tyler, Ethan, Anthonio, Madison, and Brooklynn; and two great grandchildren, Christian and Ellianna.

A Funeral Service will be held at 2PM Friday, August 27, 2021 in Wright Funeral Home with Dr. Reginald Warren officiating.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the funeral home and suggests that memorial donations be made to your favorite animal charity.
