Obituary

Franklin – Ann King Story, 86, passed away December 25, 2025 at East Pavilion with loved ones by her side.  Ann was the daughter of the late James and Delphine Davis King.  She was predeceased by her husband Jack T. Story, Jr., daughter April Cutchins, sisters, Susan Davidson, Robin Lawrence, Helen Crowell, Joyce Knight and brother Jim King.

Ann was a graduate of Franklin High School.  She enjoyed many sports and played basketball in high school.  She also played on recreational softball teams.  She was a member of Beaverdam Baptist Church and enjoyed the fellowship it offered.  Ann was a member of the Franklin Moose Lodge and Women of the Moose.  She held many offices and was once the Senior Regent of the Franklin Women of the Moose.  She was a proud LPN and enjoyed nursing until the birth of her daughter.  She spent many years working alongside Jack Jr. at Jack Jr's. Towing and Auto Repair doing bookwork, answering phones and helping customers.

She loved children and especially loved giving candy on Halloween. She enjoyed all things Christmas and loved to decorate her home and yard for the holidays.  She had many dogs and cats over the years and always grew very close to them.   Ann and Jack Jr. took many trips in their RV.  Many of those trips were to NASCAR races where she was the biggest Davey Alison fan ever.  They spent February's in Florida and traveled cross country several times.  She was also a huge Atlanta Braves fan and was able to travel to Atlanta with her sister Helen, to watch them play.

Left to cherish her memory are two daughters Jackie Newsome (Dennis), Satashia Hamby (Wesley) and son Tracy Story.  Grandchildren Alex Bryant, Keith Bryant (Kayla), J.T. Belcher (Kim), and Chad Richards.  Several great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews, a very special care giver Cathy Whitt and special friends Waunda Turner and Denise Joyner.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, December 29, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. in Wright Funeral Home, with the Rev. Warren Johnson officiating. The burial will follow at Southampton Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service and suggest memorial donations be made to Beaverdam Baptist Church.

The family would like to thank the staff at East Pavilion, Sentara Hospice and Gentiva Hospice for their wonderful care.
