Newsoms – Ann Cutchins Bess, 90, passed away October 15, 2024 in East Pavilion.  Born in Newsoms on May 18, 1934, she was a daughter of the late Clarence and Janie Futrell Cutchins.  She was also predeceased by her husband, Ned Earl Bess, Sr.; three sisters, Clara Mae Benson, Viola Liverman, and Jenny Sue Benson; six brothers, Robert Lee Cutchins, Paul Cutchins, Hurland Cutchins, James Cutchins, Raleigh Cutchins, and Chesley Cutchins; and a son-in-law, Scottie Wesson.

Ann was a graduate of Newsoms High School and a manager for Cato's Department Store.  She was a member of Hunterdale Baptist Church.

Left to cherish her memory are two daughters, Sheila B. Wesson of Franklin and Pattie B. Withers (Robbie) of Courtland; a son, Ned E. Bess, Jr. of Newsoms; seven grandchildren, Joseph Bowles (Monica),  Kelly Griffith (Scott), Jamie Bowles, Jody Bowles, Pamela Hawkins, Cal Bess, and Cody Bess; eight great grandchildren, Jayonte Whitehead, Ty'daisha Odom, Landon Bowles, Jaden Deboy, Mason Bowles, Carson Bowles, Maddie Griffith and Jackson Griffith; and many nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11AM Friday, October 18, 2024 in Wright Funeral Home with Rev. Howard Vinson, Jr. and Pastor Bob Hardman officiating.  Burial will follow in Southampton Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the funeral home and suggests that memorial donations be made to Hunterdale Baptist Church.
